EL SEGUNDO - The Clippers had one of their most energetic practices this season, with Elton Brand dominating on the offensive end for the red team and rookie Al Thornton matching Brand basket for basket in spearheading the blue team.
However, the spirited full-court scrimmage did not include center Chris Kaman, who said Monday that he will be out for the remainder of the year, due to a sprained right ankle.
Kaman sustained the injury a week ago, in the Clippers’ loss to the Dallas Mavericks. While securing a defensive rebound, he was jostled by the Mavericks’ Devean George. Kaman turned his ankle over when he stepped on George’s foot.
Kaman said he tested his ankle Sunday, hours before the Clippers played the Houston Rockets. However, he was unable to jump off his right foot.
It’s the latest in a series of injuries and illness for Kaman that ultimately will result in him missing a career-high 26 games this season.
