EL SEGUNDO - While the other NBA team in town is crusing along in the playoffs, the Clippers, as usual, are out of sight and out of mind…except to die-hard Clipper fans.

So, here is what’s going on these quiet late spring days.

Elgin Baylor, the Clippers’ vice president of basketball operations, along with head coach Mike Dunleavy and player personnel director Neil Olshey, are in Orlando, Fla., scouting and evaluating players at the NBA’s pre-draft camp…

Guard Shaun Livingston has yet to play in any sort of pickup basketball game but Livingston said that day is coming, soon.

“I’m feeling real good,” he said. “We’re getting real close to the time. Hopefully by June, I’ll be playing. That’s the plan, right now.”

Of course, the Clippers’ basketball staff will want to see Livingston in action by next month because a major decision involving him is impending. The Clippers must decide to tender Livingston a one-year contract offer of at least $5.8 million by June 30, otherwise he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Livingston, of course, missed the entire 2007-2008 season, while recovering from a catastrophic injury to his left knee, suffered Feb. 26, 2007. Livingston will conduct his third annual youth basketball camp in his hometown of Peoria, Ill., Aug. 4-9…

Forward Paul Davis is running and appears on schedule to attain his goal of being ready to play by this summer. Davis suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament of the knee last December, which caused him to miss the remainder of the season.

Forward Elton Brand confirmed that his wife, Shahara, is pregnant with the couple’s first child. The due date is prior to the start of the upcoming season…

Brand and forward Corey Maggette have been working out regularly, under the watchful eye of strength and conditioning coach Rich Williams. Asked about his Achilles’ tendon, which he ruptured last summer and caused him to miss all but eight games this past season, Brand said, “The Achilles’ is great. It’s 100 percent..

The Clippers have not yet confirmed a summer-league roster but at least two players that ended this past season with the team - forwards Marcus Williams and Nick Fazekas, have confirmed spots…
